Short-term score: A rules-based summary of recent momentum and price movement relative to moving averages. It is not a predicted return or probability of profit.
Long-term score: A broader trend/momentum indicator. It does not tell you whether a company is cheaply valued or financially healthy.
Risk label: Reflects recent share-price volatility. A “Low” label does not mean a stock is safe or cannot lose significant value.
Market data can be delayed. Read all scores alongside company fundamentals, your own research and the potential for loss.

Momentum describes recent price behaviour. It does not by itself determine whether a company is cheap, expensive, profitable or financially strong.
Side-by-side comparison makes it easier to spot differences in price trend, volatility and research scores without relying on a single headline number.
A strong trend can reverse. Consider diversification, time horizon and how much loss you could tolerate before making an investment decision.

Learn how to interpret stock charts, compare stocks fairly, and understand what risk scores can—and cannot—tell you. These guides are educational, not investment recommendations.
GUIDE 01 · CHARTS
A price chart shows how a security traded over time. Here are the key things to check before interpreting the line.
A 10-session chart can tell a very different story from a 60-session chart. Short windows emphasize recent moves; longer windows add context. In InvestWithoutBroker, the chart range refers to available closing-price observations, not a promise of calendar-day coverage.
The vertical axis shows price levels, while the horizontal axis shows trading dates. A small-looking move can be large in percentage terms if the scale is narrow. Tap a point to inspect its date and historical closing price.
A $20 move in a $400 stock is 5%, while a $20 move in a $100 stock is 20%. Percentage change is usually more useful for comparing historical price performance. Separate comparison lines should start from the same date.
Past price changes alone do not show dividends, trading fees, taxes, currency conversion, or your own investment returns. Market quotes may be delayed, and chart history does not predict future movements.
GUIDE 02 · COMPARISONS
Different stock prices do not indicate which company performed better. Use matching dates and normalized returns.
Compare price changes over a shared trading period. If one stock has missing closing dates, using a different starting point for each can distort the result. The comparison chart aligns shared dates before drawing the return lines.
Each line measures the change from its own initial price. For example, a move from $100 to $110 is +10%, and a move from $200 to $210 is +5%. The first performed better in percentage terms during that window, despite the same dollar increase.
Compare shorter and longer windows, the size of drops along the way, and the stock's recent volatility. A stock that rose most over the selected period may still have a higher chance of large daily price swings.
Price-return charts exclude dividends, commissions, taxes and currency conversion. Past leadership does not imply future outperformance, and momentum scores are not a valuation or company-quality assessment.
GUIDE 03 · RISK
Learn why a strong momentum score does not mean a stock is a safe investment or likely to go up.
The short-term score summarizes measured price behavior, including recent momentum and comparisons with moving averages. A high number means the specified signals are currently relatively strong; it is not a 90% probability of profit or a recommendation to buy.
The longer-term score summarizes broader historical price behavior. It does not measure profitability, debt, competitive strength or whether the current share price is attractive relative to earnings.
InvestWithoutBroker reports an average absolute daily move, which summarizes the typical magnitude of recent daily price changes regardless of their direction. Lower recent volatility can indicate smaller historical daily fluctuations; it does not guarantee low future losses.
Consider company fundamentals, diversification, currency exposure, liquidity and your time horizon. The calculators on this site illustrate scenarios, but actual investment returns and realized trading losses can differ substantially, including through price gaps.
